Harahan is a quiet, little town located in a sharp bend of the Mississippi River approximately 10 miles north of New Orleans. In 1718, French settlers were granted land which they called the Tchoupitoulas Coast. This land stretched for approximately 25 miles along the great river from New Orleans to the now City of Kenner. Harahan is located along a heavily-wooded area along a curve in the Mississippi, between River Ridge to the west and Elmwood to the east. Harahan's main road is Jefferson Highway which changes from Claiborne Avenue as it enters Jefferson Parish and dead ends in Kenner at the intersection of Williams Blvd. Harahan has a variety of residential development for everyone.
